Ekhaya — a Zulu word meaning "home."
We bring the heartbeat of South African music to Aotearoa.
Ekhaya NZ was born from a longing — the feeling every South African in New Zealand knows. That pull toward home, the rhythms that raised you, the energy of a crowd moving as one. We create spaces where the distance disappears and the music brings us back together.
We curate and produce premium live music experiences, bringing South Africa's hottest artists to stages across New Zealand.
More than events — we're building a community. A family of music lovers, cultural enthusiasts, and anyone who feels the pull of African rhythm.
Every event is a celebration of South African culture — the music, the fashion, the food, and the unmistakable energy that makes our gatherings unforgettable.
"Ekhaya" is a Zulu word that carries profound meaning — it translates to "home," but it speaks to something far deeper. It is the place where your spirit rests, where you are surrounded by family, warmth, and belonging. It is not just four walls — it is a feeling.
For the South African diaspora in New Zealand, ekhaya is what we create when we come together. When the bass drops and the crowd moves, when the familiar sounds of Amapiano, Gqom, and Afrobeats fill the room — suddenly, Auckland feels like Johannesburg. Wellington feels like Durban. And for a few hours, we are home.
That is our mission: to build ekhaya wherever we go. To create a home away from home through the universal language of music.
